Resole Services

When does resoling your climbing shoes become necessary?

Resoling your shoes is eco-friendly, extending their lifespan and reducing waste. Regularly resoling climbing shoes improves your climbing experience and keeps them out of landfills. This lowers the demand for new shoes and conserves resources.

If you wait too long you will most likely end up with a hole in the rand, which is the 2mm rubber layer that covers the upper and gives tension to the shoe. When the rand has been compromised, you need to add in a new tip.

A newly resoled shoe typically has a sole that is 4mm thick. While climbing, the sole wears out close to the tip of the shoes and gets thinner with time. When it gets down to a thickness of 1mm it's time to resole the shoe.

Always check your shoe's condition after every climb, a shoe resoled "On Time" can last 4-5 resolings if its fundamental parts are not compromised.

Below are some images showing what a shoe that needs resoling looks like, the sole is completely worn out, when its tread is not continuous anymore and it’s beginning to detach.
